Run (5K and Triathlon Course for all Groups):
Runners will run around the ARC fields (start marked by red circle), then take a sharp left to enter the Nursery Trail. Once through the Nursery Trail, they will turn right, cross the Anteater/California intersection (closed to cars) while being mindful of any cyclists also on the course, and turn left to head south on Anteater to Culver. At the Anteater/Bonita Canyon intersection, they will turn right (west) onto the Bonita Canyon sidewalk. Runners should stay to the left of the sidewalk to allow space for cyclists, as the bike and run course overlap here. As marked by signage and the map, runners will turn right to run across a small bridge (note, cyclists turn right ~0.2 miles earlier) and run through Meadow Park, past University Hills Community Center, until reaching the California/Gabrielino intersection. They will then cross California (controlled intersection) and run downhill, back towards the ARC on the left sidewalk. They will keep on running along the sidewalk, going straight across the Anteater/California intersection (controlled intersection) until they reach the ARC. Once at the ARC, they will turn right, cross California (road closed here), run through the ARC parking lot, follow the service road, and continue to transition (triathlon) or the pool deck to finish (5k).
Bike
After exiting transition, cyclists will mount in the service road, then turn left on California (south), proceeding up on the left side of the road until they reach the
California/Anteater intersection. Cyclists will then turn left and continue down Anteater until they reach Culver, and then take a sharp right onto the sidewalk of Bonita Canyon Dr. Cyclists will then continue until they reach the bike path (we will have volunteers posted to help direct you!), then take a slight right onto the bike path before moving on to Gabrielino Dr. At the Gabrielino/California intersection (controlled intersection), they will take a right and turn down California on the right side of the road. At the California/Anteater intersection, they will continue down California on the left side of the road until they reach the turn around point in front of the ARC. Cyclists will make a U-turn (closed intersection) and will make this loop an additional four times (for a total of 5 laps). After the 5th lap, cyclists will make a right turn (not a U-turn) and proceed through the ARC parking lot to the service road, dismount, and then enter transition.
Swim
Swimmers will enter the ARC pool on the easternmost lane (deep side, closest to the buildings) and snake through (i.e., swim up one lane, go under the lane line, swim down the next lane, until complete) each lane to the westernmost lane (shallow side). Exit the pool at the northwest side of the pool deck and proceed to the finish line on the western side of the pool deck (marked). As a reminder, there are no flip turns allowed.
